|
02/09/07 - Firsts too
strong for Ambassadors |
|
The firsts continued
their preseason friendlies games with a 6-0 victory over impressive
Mid Ulster Division 4 side Ambassadors. The result doesn't tell the
story of the game as it was much closer than the score line
suggests. Chris Loney continued his scoring run with the opener mid
way through the first half after good build up play from Darren
Bruce. Ambassadors always posed a threat throughout the half with
some great one touch football which they carried through into the
second. It wasn't until the final 30 minutes or so when the Rovers
fitness started to show, they upped their game and started to create
more chances on goal. Ally Allen scored twice before Dermot Kelly
hit a spectacular effort from distance into the top right hand
corner, Lee Wells then found the same corner from the left hand side
of the penalty box before Barry Spence rounded off the scoring with
a simple tap in. The Rovers played some good football in stages
against a very good side it it proved a good workout for the 15
players involved. |

Wellington Rec |
|
The Rovers played host to Amatuer

entertaining 3-3 draw. Chris Loney, Ally Allen and Dermot Kelly
scored. At 2pm the second teams then took to the pitch. This was the
first preseason game for the Rovers seconds but they produced a
great performance winning 3-2 with goals from Mark Cunningham, Mark
Teggart and John Cullen. John Redpath thanked Wellington for coming

27/08/07 -
Firsts impress with win against Lisnally |
|
The firsts continued their
preseason friendlies with a 4-2 win against Mid Ulster Intermediate
B side Lisnally Rangers at Madden Road. The match was played in wet
conditions however this didnt prevent the Rovers from putting in an
impressive display of quick attacking football. The Rovers goal
scorers were Chris Loney, Darren Bruce and Ally Allen (2). The score
line could have been double figures only for a superb display from
the Rangers keeper. Again manager Tony Bell used his full panel of
players changing the team throughout the game. Lisnally put up a
good fight to the end and this resulted in two late goals. |
|
|
|
|
|
25/08/07 - First start preseason friendlies with win |
|
The firsts started their preseason

and long term injury victim Chris Sandford is now fully fit. No one
